ITANAGAR, May 23: Chief Minister Pema Khandu officially launched the ‘Khelo Itanagar’ a four days long Volleyball tournament been organized by the Booth Level Committee of 13th Itanagar Assembly Constituency here today at Chintan Ghar,Jullang .
Attending the programme as Chief Guest, Khandu apprised the BLC members for organizing such mega sports event to encourage the youths.
“ I appreciate the team effort of BLC members of 13th Itanagar Assembly Constituency under the supervision of its Chief Patron –Khelo Itanagar,
Tame Phassang for organizing such event in the line pan India mission ‘ Khelo India’ “ said Chief Minister.
Khandu further added, Sports not only keeps us healthy but also make us discipline in life and it is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi to make New India within 2022 by making our younger generation healthy and discipline. “Khelo India ‘is one of its attempts to bring
youths together and make them healthy and discipline ‘’ stated Khndu while adding that recent success at the 3rd position with 66 medals in
the last Common Wealth Games is best example of Khelo India.
While encouraging the youth CM opined that there Job reservation as well as Cash incentibes for sports person who bring medals in National
International and Olympic games. Elaborating the theme of Khelo India, Chief Patron Tame Phassang said’ beside encouraging the youths to opt sports as career, the
motive behind the Khelo Itanagar is to bring all the people together in one umbrella and disseminate the information about various Schemes
and project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led central government as well as state BJP government.
Speaking on the occasion, Panchayati Raj Minister Alo Libang in his deliberation urged upon the players to maintain discipline throughout
the tournament and to play in a team spirit. Stating that not every team will win in the tournament, Libang said that the team must not only play to win the tournament but also to win the hearts of the audience.
Altogether 1148 volleyball players of various teams from Itanagar assembly constituency are participating in the tournament which was declared open by chief minister Pema Khandu. The final matches of the tournament will be played on May 26 wherein the winning team will take away the trophy along with a cash prize of
Rs one lakh.
