fight against gun culture and poppy Cultivation- Governor

ITANAGAR, 29th Jan: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) visited Longding today. In his maiden tour of the district, Governor interacted with government officers, Panchayat Raj Institute members, Gaon Burahas’ and others .

Addressing people,Governor stated ‘ gun culture has never benefited anyone. He urged upon the people to take steps to bring back the misguided youth to main stream society’.

The Governor further emphasised on security, health and education. “For  development, there must be sense of security and peaceful environment. It is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure that there is conducive environment for implementation of welfare projects and programmes’ stated Governor.

Strongly advocating against poppy cultivation, the Governor said that drug addiction is destroying the whole society. He urged upon the people to stop the poppy cultivation, while suggesting for alternative cash crop programmes.

The Governor also advised the people, particularly the Gaon burahs to ensure immunization in order to achieve elimination of measles and control Rubela by 2020.

The Governor later  visited the Community Health Centre, Longding and Government Higher Secondary School, Longding. Addressing the students, the Governor advised to excel in their academics, maintain discipline, and do good sports and extra co curriculum activities and prepare themselves for bright future. He also motivated them to take a solemn pledge to stand against opium and poppy cultivation and gun culture.

Earlier, on his arrival at Longding, the Governor and the First Lady of the State  Neelam Misra were received by Deputy Commissioner Shri Vikram Singh Malik and Superintendent of Police Shri Rohit Meena.(PRO- Rajbhawan)
