ITANAGAR, Oct 14: Atleast 58 cases against 23 MLAS & former MLAs including one former MP and one sitting MPs were registered in a different Police station in 14 districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Out of 23 MLAs, 13 are Ex-MLAs, 10 are present MLAs and out of two MP one is former member of Lok Sabha and one is present BJP MP.
Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police –Crime Dr. Hemant Tiwari informed that the office circulating in social media is purely for internal circulation to ascertain the status of the investigation/ trial of the cases registered against legislators(sitting/Ex) . We have sought updates on all the pending cases as from all the SPs of the different district as directed by the Hon’ble Guwahati High Court, informed SP Crime- Hemant Tiwari.
The Crime Branch, PHO headed by SP (Crime) act as crime record bureau for the state stated SP while disclosing that the letter circulated in media was not from government but from the Crime Branch seeking the updates of the criminal cases registered against legislators to ascertain the current status of the investigation and of a criminal trial.
He further informed that the case mentioned at SI. No. 3 of the list being circulated in media and with reference of Case No. 49/14 of PS Naharlagun U/S 3(1) of APPDP Act which was charge-sheeted vide CS No. 39/2014 dated 17/07/2014. This case was taken up by the Hon’ble Court of CJM at Yupia and has been disposed on 24/07/2017. Wherein accused was discharged from the offense charge-sheeted under section 3(1) of APPDP Act 1997, stated SP.
