ITANAGAR, 11th June: In a significant development, the wreckage of the missing AN-32 Aircraft has been spotted today in some 16km north of Lipo village under Tato circle of Shi Yomi district at an approximate elevation of 12000 ft.
The wreckage has been detected by IAF Mi-17 Helicopter. The report has been confirmed by the Indian Air Force in its official Twitter handle.IAF also twitted that the efforts are being made to establish survival of the crew and other members. As per local reports, the ground team has to take foot march for at least 28 hours to reach the spot.
IAF also added that, after the identification of wreckage, the Cheetah of IAF &ALH of Indian Army reached the crash site however due to high elevation and dense forest helicopters could not land next to the crash site. ‘ Nearest landing site has been identified and the rescue operation by helicopters will commence early morning of 12th June. However, the ground forces will continue to reach the crash site during the night’ twitted IAF.
The IAF AN-32 Aircraft with 13 people on board went missing on June 3 last after 35 minutes of its take-off from Jorhat, Assam airbase while on its routine flight to ALG Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh.
